A glance at the activist side of Elisabeth Noone:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Elisabeth traveled and lived in Eastern Tibet<\/strong> to explore her desire for a more contemplative life.\u00a0 She was captivated by the quiet lifecycle of the Raktrul Monastery.\u00a0 She was granted permission from the Venerable Bardor Tulku Rinpoche to observe and document their rituals, in the hopes of deepening the American public\u2019s understanding of the monks\u2019 humble lifestyle.\u00a0 As her knowledge of the workings of this community grew, she realized that the monks were nourishing more than their souls.<\/p>\n

Acting as the sole videographer, she followed their efforts to improve the plight of the impoverished people living in the outskirts of the monastery. \u00a0She shot and narrated a thirty-minute documentary, Return to Raktrul, <\/em><\/strong>and narrated Night Into Day<\/em><\/strong> which followed their grassroots mission to install solar-power reflecting panels.<\/p>\n

Based on this spotlight, half a million dollars was raised to recruit and train medical personnel to deliver \u201cbackpack\u201d care to the outlying hamlets of the monastery.<\/p>\n

As a result of being inspired by the dignity of these holy men, she help found the Raktrul Foundation based in Red Hook, New York to provide a reliable pipeline of funding for their commitment to practical outreach.<\/p>\n

Raktrul Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded for improving the quality of life and enriching the educational facilities for children in the Raktrul area.<\/p>\n
